Sam Fielding Lamensdorf Jr.

NEW YORK CITY — Sam Fielding Lamensdorf Jr., a native of Rolling Fork, died Thursday, June 21, 2011, in New York City, where he was a resident. He was 77.

Mr. Lamensdorf was the son of Susie B. and Sam F. Lamensdorf. He was a graduate of Rolling Fork High School and the University of Mississippi. After serving in the U.S. Army, he joined Binswanger Mirror and Glass Company, working in Memphis and Dallas. He became national sales manager for Binswanger and National Gypsum. He had been a resident of New York for 25 years and was a specialist in long-term care insurance.

He is survived by his wife, June Colbert of New York City; a son, Edward Bruce Lamensdorf of Dallas; a daughter, Leslie L. Spencer and seven grandchildren of Bedford, N.H.; a sister, Bettye Sue Kline of Vicksburg; and a brother, Ben Lamensdorf of Cary.

Services were in New York City and burial was in Farmington, Conn.
