As the 2011 season of the Vicksburg Farmers’ Market heads into its final two weeks, organizers and vendors alike say they are happy with the market’s new location and the shortened selling season, especially in light of the heat and prolonged drought the region has seen this summer.
“It was a good decision,” said Mary Beth Lasseter, who along with Kristin Meehan has volunteered to run the market each year since its 2008 inception. “We made that decision before we knew about the heat and the drought just based on past experience, and now we’re really happy with it because of how conditions have been.”
