Getting un-slick

Rob Quimby of the Vicksburg Fire Department uses a hose to clean layers of mud, silt and algae off the boat ramp at City Front Monday morning. The Mississippi River at Vicksburg has fallen about 23 feet since the historic 57.1-foot crest, 14.1 feet above flood level, on May 19, leaving debris and caked mud in its wake. The fire department routinely cleans City Front at the Yazoo Diversion Canal as needed.
