CROWLEY, Texas — Attie T. Savelle, 81, went to be with the Lord July 19, 2011, with her family by her side in Crowley, Texas.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Heritage of Faith Christian Center of Crowley. Interment will be at Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth. Visitation will be 6 to 8 tonight in Laurel Land Memorial Chapel. Her son, Rev. Jerry Savelle, will be officiating.

She was born Sept. 23, 1929, in Henryetta, Okla., to Harvey and Crinter Mae (Henderson) Snow. After the death of her father, her mother moved her and her sisters to San Diego, Calif. It was there that this beautiful, young lady fell in love with Jerry W. Savelle, a member of the United States Navy. As soon as J.W. Savelle returned from serving our country in Okinawa and Iwo Jima in World War II, they were eager to get married in the winter of 1945.

This “California girl” was moved from the beaches of sunny San Diego to the farmlands of Vicksburg. She was the proud mother of one son, Jerry J. Savelle; and one daughter, Shirley Mae Savelle. She was a portrait of the all-American “Happy Days” family. The family moved from Vicksburg to Shreveport, La., and, later, spent their remaining years in the Fort Worth area.

Attie served as the receptionist for her son’s ministry, Jerry Savelle Ministries International, until her retirement. Her joyful nature and witty sense of humor had callers phoning back just to chat with “Miss Attie.” She brought a smile to everyone she met.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Wallace Savelle.

Miss Attie Savelle is survived by her son, Jerry J. Savelle and his wife, Carolyn Savelle; daughter, Shirley Mae Savelle; four granddaughters; and 13 great-grandchildren.
