A Vicksburg native, Hardy graduated from H.V. Cooper High School in 1971 and the University of Southern Mississippi in 1975. She worked for Warren-Yazoo Mental Health Service for 31 years, including 26 years in senior management in four administrative positions.

Hardy, 57, touts roles directing the construction of three agency facilities and the development of records management systems and authorship of policy and procedure manuals that address all the agency’s services.

The office is elected countywide. Chancery clerks maintain all records for chancery courts and boards of supervisors in the state. Statutory duties include recording board minutes, preparing the claims docket and county payroll, recording and storing deeds, land records and documents received from the court and collecting delinquent property taxes.

Hardy and husband, Robert “Rick” Hardy, are members of St. George Greek Orthodox Church and have three sons, Robert Hardy, Brian Richardson and John Richardson.

“I believe my record proves I take care of business regardless of the task,” she said in a news release. “If elected, I promise to bring the same initiative and energy to the chancery clerk’s office.”
