Three vie for Republican nod in District 1 race

There is a three-way competition for the Republican nomination for the District 1 seat on the Warren County Board of Supervisors. The nominee will advance to face two independents, Jerry Briggs and Reed Birdsong, in the general election on Nov. 8.

Republicans seeking the nomination are:

• Incumbent David McDonald, 61, who has held the position for 12 years; Joe Channell Jr., 49, a businessman; and John Arnold, 57, a real estate broker.
