Generals knock off M-Braves

The Jackson Generals broke a 3-3 deadlock with a two-run outburst in the sixth inning to earn a 5-3 victory over the Mississippi Braves on Wednesday.

Carlos Triunfel and Vincent Catricala notched RBI singles in the sixth to give the Generals the win.

Jackson surged out to a 3-0 lead in the first. Chih-Hsien Chiang had a two-out, two-run single and Francisco Martinez added another two-out RBI with another single.

The M-Braves got one run back in the third as Willie Cabrera drove in Braeden Schlehuber with a single.

In the fourth, the M-Braves tied the contest as back-to-back doubles by Ernest Mejia and Donell Linares added one run and an RBI groundout by Cory Harrilchak accounted for the other.

Right-hander Aaron Shafer took the loss in his M-Braves debut, allowing 11 hits and five runs in 52⁄3 innings.

Jackson starter Steven Hensley earned the win with six innings of work, allowing six hits and three runs.

Steve Delabar pitched the final 11⁄3 innings to earn the save.

The M-Braves go for the series victory tonight at Pringles Park at 7:05 p.m. and will return home to Trustmark Park for a series against the Carolina Mudcats starting Friday.
