Lake Bruin will be drawn down 4 1/2 feet below pool stage beginning Sept. 6 and will remain lowered until Dec. 15, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries said.
The oxbow lake in Tensas Parish is drawn down seasonally, which allows for replacement of a disabled water-control structure, vegetation control in the Brushy Lake area, fisheries improvement and for area residents to maintain waterfront property.
Boat access will be limited, LDWF said. Contacts at the state agency include state biologist Ryan Daniel, at 318-343-4044, or Gary Smith, president of the Lake Bruin Recreation and Water Control Conservation District, at 318-766-4252.
