Elvira H. Brown, formerly of Vicksburg, died Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, in Chicago. She was 79.

Mrs. Brown was born in St. Louis, Mo. She was reared in Vicksburg, where she attended elementary and high schools and Mount Heroden M.B. Church. She moved to Chicago in 1951.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Elvira Booker; and a sister, Frankie Booker.

She is survived by two sons, Michael Russell and George A. Brown Jr.; two grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Services will be at 2 today at Jefferson: W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
