A Saturday morning fire that began in the kitchen destroyed a house at 2927 Highland Ave., Vicksburg Fire Department Capt. Carl Carson said.

Carson said firefighters arrived at the 8 a.m. blaze to find the house fully engulfed, with flames coming through the windows of the house. The cause of the fire was undetermined, he said.

Carson said Dorothy Newsome, the owner of the house, and her family managed to flee the fire. No one was injured.
