ROLLING FORK — Franklin E. “Frankie” Screws Sr. died Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, at River Region Medical Center. He was 69.

Mr. Screws was born in Yazoo County. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired school teacher. He was a member of Holly Bluff Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmo L. Screws and Opal Stanton; and a son, Franklin E. Screws Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Screws of Rolling Fork; a son, Ellis Screws and his wife Karen of Vicksburg; a sister, Corrine S. Pugh of Vicksburg; three grandchildren, Hunter Screws, Andrew Screws and Kori Screws.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Stricklin-King Funeral Home in Yazoo City with the Rev. Sonny Cliburn officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City. Visitation will be tonight from 5 until 7 at the funeral home.
