The Vicksburg Gators wrote their names in the record books, and the win column, on Friday night.

Quarterback Cameron Cooksey threw for 328 yards and four touchdowns, running back Darius Youngblood ran for 106 yards and a score, and the Gators beat Lawrence County 37-14.

Cooksey passed former North Vicksburg and VHS star Ernest Moore to claim the Warren County record for career passing yards. Cooksey now has 4,490 yards, bettering Moore’s mark of 4,336 set from 1971-73. It was also Cooksey’s third consecutive 300-yard game, another county record.

Receiver A.J. Stamps inched closer to a piece of history. He caught three passes for 74 yards and a touchdown. He now needs just 91 more yards to pass Porters Chapel’s Cole Smith as the county’s all-time leader in receiving yards.
