David Paul Waddell

Mr. David Paul Waddell, age 80, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, at the Mississippi Veterans Home in Jackson.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, until the hour of the services at 11 a.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home with Dr. Jonathan Waddell officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Waddell was born in Hazlehurst. He resided in Vicksburg and Utica. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a radio mechanic specialist during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in the Philippines.

He retired as an electrician for Marathon-LeTourneau Co. in Vicksburg, where he traveled around the world. He was a member of Utica Baptist Church. He was a 33rd-degree Mason and was an honored member of Hyland Jarmon Lodge 113 and a Shriner.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Hilda G. Waddell.

He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Koestler (Carl) of Clinton and Sylvia Mayerhoff of Vicksburg; sons, Paul V. Waddell of Vicksburg and Dave G. Waddell (Tracey) of Vicksburg; one brother, Dr. Jonathan Waddell of Birmingham, Ala.;, and sister, Betty Jo Hearn of Brandon; six grandchildren, Jason Reddick, Heather Monsour, Stephen Reddick, Amanda Nowell, Cody Waddell and Kayla Waddell; and one great-grandchild, Harley Ann Nowell.

Pallbearers will be Fairley Dawkins, W.M. Pritchard, J.W. Wright, George Callen, Roy Blissett and Charlie Burris.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kelly Landers, Todd Flanagan, David Cook and Gary Greg.
