Prentiss Harry Hawkins

The Rev. Prentiss Harry Hawkins died Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at River Region Medical Center. He was 78.

Rev. Hawkins was pastor of Bradley’s Chapel Methodist Church at the time of his death. He was a native of Farmhaven and was a graduate of Farmhaven High School and Emery University. He had preached for 55 years, serving churches in Greenwood, Benoit, Pickens, Canton and Fannin.

Survivors include one son, John Hawkins of Kenduskeag, Maine; two daughters, Jan Hawkins Boudousquie and Betsy Nestler, both of Brandon; four sisters, Bobbie Hillman of Richton, Betty Flint of Batesville, Evelyn Lilly of Canton and Mary Hawkins Butler of Madison; a brother, Gary Lee Hawkins of Madison; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services were Sept. 12, 2011, at Breeland Funeral Home in Canton. Burial followed at Canton Cemetery.
