Banged-up and reeling from their worst outing of the season, Porters Chapel might have liked to have seen a cupcake on the schedule this week to straighten things out.

That’s not what’s on the schedule.

PCA will head to Flora on Friday night to face Tri-County. The Rebels, who lost in the MAIS Class A championship game last season, are 5-0 this year and riding a streak of four consecutive shutouts. In that span, they’ve outscored their opponents 160-0.

“They’re ranked No. 1 in single-A, played in the championship game last year and have a lot of those guys back. They’re ranked No. 1 for a reason,” PCA coach Wade Patrick said. “It’s going to be a big test for us. We’ve got to be ready. If not, it’s going to get ugly quick.”

The Eagles did not seem ready in last week’s 25-10 loss to Benton. They committed eight penalties, missed two field goals, allowed four sacks and had three bad snaps from center. It all added up to PCA’s second loss in three games.
