June Val “Maw-Maw” Davis died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011, at the River Region Medical Center. She was 86.
Mrs. Davis had lived for the past 84 years in Vicksburg, where she was a homemaker and co-owner of Maw-Maws Resale Shop on Locust Street with her sister and mother for 30 years. She was devoted to her family and friends. She was of the Catholic faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Simmons Davis; her parents, Joe and Frances Addie Sandifer Stevens; sisters, Tiny Hile and Dot Pogue; and a brother, Leonard “Red” Stevens.
Survivors include her daughter, Veronica “Jeepy” (Alex) Shiers of Vicksburg; her son, Gordon “Rusty” (Yvonne) Haydel of Jackson; her brother, Gordon Stevens of Vicksburg; her sister, Dora Templeton of Vicksburg; her granddaughter, Dean (Chuck) Anderson of Vicksburg; her great-grandchildren, Veronica Boyd, J. Boyd and Landen Anderson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Patrick Farrell officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 9 a.m. until the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jim Moore, Joe Stevens, J. Boyd, Sammy Smith, Butch Hile and Chuck Anderson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Bob Ford, Dr. David Halinski, Artis Williams, Sherry Burse and employees of the Hometown Medical Group.
Memorials are requested to St. Paul Catholic Church or Vicksburg Catholic School.
