A Meridian native will host an event Saturday at the Old Southern Tea Room to raise money for a film that features Vicksburg.

T.J. Harper, who now lives in Greenville, N.C., is hoping to raise enough funds to produce a movie based on “Mississippi Blues,” a book by Cassandra Darden Bell that uses Vicksburg as the backdrop.

“I have people lined up to tell interested investors about the story,” Harper said.
