A Meridian native will host an event Saturday at the Old Southern Tea Room to raise money for a film that features Vicksburg.
T.J. Harper, who now lives in Greenville, N.C., is hoping to raise enough funds to produce a movie based on “Mississippi Blues,” a book by Cassandra Darden Bell that uses Vicksburg as the backdrop.
“I have people lined up to tell interested investors about the story,” Harper said.
Harper, whose company is POPSFilm, will be the movie’s director and screenplay writer.
The free event will run from 5 to 7 p.m., and anyone who attends will receive a signed poster and the novel on which the film is based.
The Old Southern Tea Room is inside The Vicksburg on Clay Street.
