The Red Devils cashed in with four touchdowns, two from Tevin Moore and one each from Brig Adams and Charles Haywood, to build a 28-point lead by halftime. Stringer (6-2, 4-1 Region 4-1A) tallied a 55-14 win and maintained a hold on third place in the region standings.
St, Al fell to 1-8 overall and 1-6 in the region. Flashes coach B.J. Smithhart said his team made some progress despite the final margin.
“Stringer has a good football team,” Smithhart said. “They are really big up front and have some good backs. I felt our guys played real hard.”
Moore finished with 200 yards rushing off 13 carries to lead Stringer. The Red Devils got touchdowns from Xavier Jones and Anthony Moore. Mason Avery had a 80-yard kickoff return, following St. Al’s last score that came on Carlton Campbell’s 70-yard run.
Campbell had a 3-yard TD run in the second quarter to cut the deficit to 28-7. St. Al reached the Stringer 1 in the final 30 seconds of the half, but a 15-yard personal foul penalty backed them up to the 16-yard line and two pass attempts by Carlisle Koestler fell incomplete.
