ALEXANDRIA, La. — Larry I. Mize, formerly of Vicksburg, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria. He was 76.
Mr. Mize, a resident of Dry Prong, La., was a member of First Baptist Church of Dry Prong and Highland Baptist Church of Vicksburg, where he had been a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was involved with the Gideon and jail ministries. He had worked for G.E./Honeywell and Grand Gulf Nuclear Station, and was retired from Waterways Experiment Station.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence A. and Carrie Fraizer Mize; and a brother, L.C. Mize.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta Fralick Mize; and two sons, Glynn Mize and Tony Mize.
Visitation will be from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Dry Prong.
Services will be at noon Monday at the church with the Revs. Lloyd Whitman and Melvin Brunson officiating. Burial, directed by Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Alexandria, will be at Dry Prong Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Gary Gates, Terry Mitchell, Chris Brunson, Billy Parker, Norman Garlington and Gene Hudnell.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Revs. Brian Ivey and James Messer, Wendell Ingram, Jerry Graham, Jan Hendrix, Clyde Hill, Carl Gates, Mark Newton, Danny Walters, and David Turner.
