WC, Clinton renew ancient grudge match

Two longtime rivals meet in Clinton on Friday night and both are in desperate need of a win.

Warren Central (1-7, 1-3) and Clinton (3-5, 1-3) are part of a five-way tie for fourth place in Region 2-6A. The top four teams from the eight-team region make the playoffs. With just three games left, a win Friday would keep the victor in good shape while the loser’s hopes would be on life support.

Vikings coach Josh Morgan knows this is his team’s chance to turn around a tough season.

“It’s a huge game and a huge week for us,” Morgan said. “The doors are wide open and that’s the way we’re approaching it. We’re both in the same boat. We’re both desperate for a win.”
