‘Truth in Campaigning’

With “Truth in Lending” and “Truth in Advertising” being the norm, it would be wonderful if there was “Truth in Campaigning.”

I feel compelled to set one record straight. When the subdivision in which I live and businesses located on U.S. 61 South were threatened by flood waters this year, the affected businesses mobilized their resources and began to build and strengthen an old railroad line into a levee between them and the rising waters. Their efforts were extended to encompass the levee behind Green Meadows Subdivision.

When it became evident that their attempts would be insufficient, one of the business owners began to seek help from government sources. The person he found to help was our county supervisor, Bill Lauderdale, who, true to his promise of availability, responded to the request for help by taking the necessary steps to get county crews mobilized.

This was a Saturday morning and by early that afternoon, the red tape had been broken and the Warren County Road Department was hauling dirt to the site. Every business and homeowner in the area is grateful to Lauderdale for answering our call for help. There is no doubt that without his help, our houses would have flooded.

I thank you for letting me make it perfectly clear that that District 4 Supervisor Bill Lauderdale played a major role in saving our subdivision, the houses on Hall Road and some businesses on U.S. 61 South.
