A Vicksburg employee of River Region Medical Center was charged Wednesday with breaking into the hospital’s business office and stealing $500, said Sheriff Martin Pace.
Demarrius Lamar Williams, 23, 4920 Halls Ferry Road, is accused of the theft from the hospital on U.S. 61 North.
The break-in was reported from within the hospital at about 2:30 a.m., Pace said.
A surveillance video review placed Williams “at or near the scene,” Pace said, and he was arrested at about noon.
Williams, charged with business burglary, was released from the Warren County Jail after posting $5,000 bond, records showed.
Citing the ongoing investigation, hospital spokesman Allen Karel said River Region officials would not comment now on Williams’ position at the facility or whether he was on duty at the time of the break-in
