Deserie Scallions Edwards

Deserie Scallions Edwards died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at Covenant Health and Rehab of Vicksburg. She was 79.
Ms. Edwards was born in Tippo, Miss., and had lived in Vicksburg most of her life. She was a retired preschool teacher and a personal caregiver. She was a member of Church of God of Prophecy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Ida Mae Scallions; her brothers, Stanley Scallions and James Henry Scallions; and a sister, Shirley Scallions Italiano.
Survivors include two sons, James Vernon Edwards Jr. and Jerry Wayne Edwards, both of Vicksburg; her daughter, Teresa Edwards York of Vicksburg; two brothers, Leslie Scallions and Raymond Lacy Scallions, both of Vicksburg; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services were Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. David Sterling officiating. Burial followed at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Daniel Edwards, Danny Scallions, Guy Italiano, Todd Scallions, Junior Scallions and Richard McComas.
Honorary pallbearers were the staff of Patient’s Choice Hospice and Drs. Bill Wooten and Walter Johnston Jr.
