Ridgeland blanks Lady Vikes, 5-0

The Lady Titans are one of Mississippi’s top soccer programs and on Tuesday, handed the Lady Vikes a 5-0 loss in their home opener.

WC coach Trey Banks said his team played well.

“We played hard against the No. 1 ranked team in the state,” Banks said. “Katie Humphries never gave up and played outstanding in goal.”

The loss drops the Lady Vikes to 5-3 on the season. One of the other losses was to defending Class 4A champion Northeast Jones.

“It’s still early in the season for us,” Banks said. “We still have until Dec. 16 before our first district game.”

Ridgeland (6-2) got a hat trick from Latisha Fleming with three goals and two assists. Hannah Harris and Tracy Hobbs had a goal apiece.

Humphries had 13 saves to pace WC.
