Work is expected to begin in January on Halls Ferry Station, the project’s developer said Thursday.
“We look for things to get rolling after the first of the year,” said A.G. Helton, chief executive officer for Action Properties of Yazoo City, which is renovating the strip mall. “We plan to do some dirt work on the site this month.”
Work on the strip mall was initially expected to begin in October. The property was cut and cleared of debris, but there has been no other work at the site. Helton said he is waiting on city permits and architect’s plans, and negotiations with potential tenants.
Action Properties purchased the 30,000-square-foot strip mall on Halls Ferry Road behind Walgreens in May from Regions Bank, which bought it in 2007 for $2.65 million at a foreclosure sale.
The strip mall was part of a development by Ergon Properties of Jackson that included Walgreens and Home Depot. Ergon stopped work on Halls Ferry Station in 2006. Walgreens was built in 2004.
