Doris Sharp

Mrs. Doris Sharp died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at River Region Medical Center. She was 75.

She was born in Clouterville, La., and had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1956. Mrs. Sharp was the daughter of the late Charlie and Cora Vercher. She was employed by Walmart Pharmacy until her retirement 10 years ago. She was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, the Rev. E.L. Sharp of Vicksburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Tawanna and Johnny Crocker of Utica; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Susie Sharp of Kansas City, Mo., and Michael and Paula Sharp of Vicksburg; numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren; two brothers, Joe Vercher of Pineville, La., and Pat Vercher of Alexandria, La.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Sharp was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lighthouse Baptist Church with interment in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at Riles Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, and at Lighthouse Baptist Church Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the service.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Stokes, Sammy Stokes, Chris Ables, Donald Gardner, Johnny Sanders, Ken Breland, Doug Rowe and Lewis Tingle.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Patrick Eakes, Dr. Steven Sudderth and the nurses of the 4th floor of River Region Medical Center.

Memorials may be made to Lighthouse Baptist Church, 1804 Sky Farm Ave., Vicksburg, MS 39180.

Riles Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
