The engagement of Latasha Smith of Vicksburg to Demetrick Banks of Ridgeland is announced today. Vows will be exchanged at 3 p.m. Dec. 17, 2011, at Washington County Convention Center in Greenville. A reception will follow. All relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Ms. Smith is the daughter of Deloris Gray of Memphis and Danny Britt of Peoria, Ill.

Mr. Banks is the son of Tony and Reola Washington of Rolling Fork.

The bride-elect attended Greenville High School. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Mississippi Valley State University and a Master of Arts degree in teaching from Alcorn State University. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.

Ms. Smith is employed with the Vicksburg Warren School District.

The prospective groom attended Rolling Fork High School. He received an Associate in Applied Science degree in electronics technology, computer servicing technology and marketing management technology.

Mr. Banks is employed at Nissan North America in Canton.
