In Issaquena County for the week ending Friday, the grand jury was convened by Circuit Judge M. James Chaney.

The panel of 18 jurors, sworn in Monday, reviewed evidence and issued an indictment in one case.

They also toured the courthouse and issued a report recommending more storage space be found for the clerk and tax assessor; repair of ceiling tiles, bricks and flooring; and replacement of the heating and air conditioning system.

Indicted and arraigned — formally advised of the charges against him — in circuit court was:

• Jimmy Newton Pruitt III, 28, Issaquena County Correctional Facility inmate — possession of contraband within a jail or correctional facility, April 14.

The Issaquena County Grand Jury meets twice a year, in January and July.
