Vicksburg firefighter Joseph Rusche holds the hand of Valerie Banks, 27, after she was involved in a one-car accident on Clay and Levee streets on Friday. Vicksburg Police officer Shantel Carter said Banks was northbound on Washington Street when the brakes in her car failed. She turned west onto Clay Street, crossed Levee Street, went over railroad tracks and crashed into a concrete wall at the old Surplus City building next to Grand Station Casino. She was taken to River Region Medical Center, then transferred to University of Mississippi Medical Center where she was in good condition Friday night, a spokeswoman said.
