The District gave away 8,000 seedling trees Friday. This year the group gave away packages of crape myrtle, river birch, red maple, Southern magnolia, live oak, persimmon and loblolly pine. Nancy Melancon, District clerk, said the giveaway has been going on for at least 30 years.
