Auburn (2-2) had nine extra-base hits among its 20 hits Tuesday, and crushed visiting Alcorn State 22-0 in the opener of a two-game midweek series. Creede Simpson went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles, while Patrick Savage and Cody Ortman both homered.

Auburn scored in seven of the eight innings in which it batted.

Jon Luke Jacobs pitched six shutout innings to earn the victory. The only time he allowed multiple base runners was in the sixth inning, when he gave up a single and a walk.
