7 guilty in Warren, 3 guilty in Sharkey circuit courts

In Warren County Circuit Court for the week ending Friday:

• Earnest Atkins, 21, 1030 Ryan St., pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced by Circuit Judge M. James Chaney to the Ninth Circuit Court Drug Court Program for a period not to exceed five years, a $4,000 fine and $1,297.50 in court costs. Atkins was arrested Aug. 8.

• Grady Bishop, 19, 3365 U.S. 61 South, was found guilty of violating probation and sentenced by Chaney to two years in prison, to include an intensive alcohol and drug treatment program, plus $6,076 in restitution and $110 in costs. Bishop also pleaded guilty to burglary of a dwelling and grand larceny and was sentenced by Chaney to the Hinds County Restitution Center to pay $3,934 in restitution, a $2,500 fine and $322.50 in fees. The sentences are to be served consecutively. Bishop was arrested Sept. 14, 2010, and Aug. 15, 2011.

• David W. Grogan, 23, 60 Roy Young Road, pleaded guilty to statutory rape and was sentenced by Chaney to eight years in prison followed by five years of probation, plus a $3,000 fine, $2,000 to the victim’s compensation fund and $497.50 in costs. Grogan was indicted by the grand jury in October.

• Derrick Hall, 30, 1204 Howard St., pleaded guilty to sale of a controlled substance and was sentenced by Chaney to one year in prison followed by two years of probation, a $2,000 fine and $622.50 in costs. Hall was indicted in October.

• Sharon Lloyd, 47, 603 N. Poplar St., pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced by Chaney to the drug court program for a period not to exceed five years, $4,000 in fines and $2,095 in costs. Lloyd was indicted on the charges in October.

• Marquis Deshone Robinson, 30, Route 1, Box 83, Lorman, was found guilty of violating probation and sentenced by Circuit Judge Isadore Patrick to five years in prison, plus outstanding fines, fees and restitution (unspecified). Robinson was arrested April 8, 2009 for felony eluding and malicious mischief.

• Ivory Joe Williams, 49, 1027 1/2 Ryan St., was found guilty of violating probation and sentenced by Patrick to a Mississippi Department of Corrections restitution center to pay outstanding fines, fees and restitution (amount unspecified) followed by one year in the Intensive Supervision Program (house arrest) and three years of probation. Williams originally was sentenced Sept. 14, 2009, for aggravated assault.

In Sharkey County for the week ending Friday:

• Erica Cooper, 26, 304 Mickey Road, Rolling Fork, pleaded guilty to burglary of a dwelling and was sentenced by Patrick to time served (205 days) followed by five years of probation, plus a $1,000 fine and $522.50 in costs. Cooper was arrested July 14, 2010.

• Nicholas Berray Sanders, 30, 138 Oil Well Road, Cary, was found guilty of violating probation and sentenced by Patrick to five years in prison, plus $1,200 in fines, fees and costs. Upon payment of $600, the sentence will be reduced to two years of house arrest, Patrick ruled. Sanders was arrested Nov. 19, 2006 for burglary of a dwelling.

• Robert Watts, 22, 178 Worthington Road, Rolling Fork, was found guilty of violating probation and sentenced by Patrick to seven years in prison plus unspecified fines, fees and costs. Watts was arrested April 26 for non-residential burglary.
