Barbara Lorraine Andrus

Barbara “Lorraine” Andrus, 67, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at River Region Medical Center.

Graveside memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hermanville Cemetery in Hermanville with the Rev. Sgt. Maj. James Bowman Sr. officiating. Visitation will be Saturday at the graveyard from noon until the service.

Mrs. Andrus was born in Port Gibson, but had lived most of her life in Vicksburg. She had been a homemaker for many years. She was a lover of animals and people. Many knew her for her generous heart, love and compassion to others. She was the owner of three Chihuahuas that she adored. She was a member of Hill City-Chapter 680 Women’s Purple Heart Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe B. and Maude Lee Willis; and one brother, Joe B. Willis.

Survivors include her husband, Harry Andrus of Vicksburg; a daughter, June Brown of Natchez; a son, Bert Brown and his wife, Sandra, of Red Lick; one brother, Hackley Willis and his wife, Janice, of Haughton, La.; five sisters, Ann Beaube of Utica, Betty Foster of Port Gibson, Carolyn Neese of D’Iberville, Hilda Franklin and her husband, Buddy, of Sand Hill and Martha Rials and her husband, Harroll, of Harrisonville; two grandchildren, Amber and Scott Brown of Red Lick; and a number of close nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Hill City-Chapter 680 Women’s Purple Heart Auxiliary of Vicksburg, P.O. Box 821926, Vicksburg, MS 39182.
