Sergeant retires after 30 years

Sgt. 1st Class Alfonso Gonzalez retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ 579th Engineer Detachment (Forward Engineer Support Team – Main) after 20 years of military service.

Gonzalez served as the senior construction supervisor with the FEST-M.

He enlisted in the Army on Jan. 29, 1992, and attended Basic Training and Advance Individual Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. He was promoted to Sgt. 1st Class on July 1, 2004.

A native of Los Angeles, Gonzalez is married to the former Silvia Gonzalez and has two children, Alfonso and Eduardo.
