Irish for day? RiverFest is coming! It’s spring

May we all be Irish at least a couple of days.

Forgive me, the name just gives it away. Sean Patrick Murphy means I could be only one thing.

For an Irishman, it’s ramping up to our new year.

St. Patrick’s Day has become sullied a bit. It takes but a few bad apples to get out of hand.

It was meant to be and should be a day to be happy. The infectious music will get the heart racing and keep it that way — if you let it.

St. Patrick’s Day also kicks off the warm weather outdoor season.

Don’t miss the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Jackson on Saturday. It ranks up there with those in New York, Chicago and Savannah, Ga.

Get there early and, if malt and hops are in your plans, have a sober driver. For all of us, please. The police will be watching.

It’d be a good time to start talk of RiverFest.

Vicksburg’s largest annual downtown festival returns for its 25th year.

Tickets are still cheap until Wednesday. Get them early. The music will be good this year. Lace ’em up for the weekend of April 20-21 in downtown.

Soon — I dread to think about it even 11 days before the official beginning of spring — the summer swelter will set in. Take advantage while you can.

Be Irish this week. Parade away a Saturday.

Before you know it, RiverFest will be here.

Enjoy. And slainte’!
