Felony charges have been filed against a Carthage man accused of running a red light, driving an empty logging truck while intoxicated and injuring a Vicksburg woman, Capt. Bobby Stewart said Tuesday.
Ricky Cecil Goss, 55, 1721 Madden Road, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence, charges upgraded from misdemeanor DUI first offense. Bond was set at $75,000, Stewart said.
The wreck occurred at 7:25 a.m. Tuesday at Clay Street and Mission 66. Goss’ blood alcohol level was .05, over the legal limit of .04 for commercial drivers, police said. He remained in the Issaquena County Jail this morning.
Injured was Jennifer Henry, 54, 132 Robinhood Road.
Police said Henry was turning west onto Clay Street from Mission 66 when her Mercury Milan was struck by the truck, driven by Goss. Witnesses reported that the truck, eastbound on Clay, went through a red light.
Henry, who was alone in the car, was on her way to Vicksburg Catholic School, where she is a staff member and former chief administrator.
She was taken to River Region Medical Center and was in serious condition this morning, said hospital spokesman Allen Karel.
Goss, who was not injured, also was cited for failure to stop at the red light.
