Courtney Gifford, 21, and Chelsei Peppers, also 21, offer Lance Rowe a couple bottles of water while he makes his trek up the North Frontage Road dressed as Jesus Saturday afternoon in Vicksburg. Gifford and Peppers were on their way to Arkansas when they say Rowe walking and decided to help him with some refreshments. Rowe was planning on preaching at New Beginnings church on Sunday, and decided to take some time beforehand to go out and carry the cross. Carrying the cross in public, he said, gives him the opportunity to meet people and spread the word about his faith.
