Services for Leroy Thomas Sr. will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at The Word Church with Bishop Oscar Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Mr. Thomas died Sunday, March 25, 2012, at his home. He was 78.

He retired from the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Brigade and the Mat Sinking Unit, where he had worked for 33 years. He was a member of American Legion Tyner Ford Post No. 213 and Sunshine Lodge No. 99, A.F.&A.M.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mason and Louise Thomas; and a sister, Katherine Walker.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Thomas of Vicksburg; six sons, Leroy Thomas Jr., Lawrence Sullivan Jr., Calvin Sullivan and Lee Sullivan Jr., all of Vicksburg, Tommy Sullivan of Nashville and Mark Washington of St. Paul, Minn.; three daughters, Marilyn Lake of Mobile, Ala., Diane Sullivan of Memphis and Carla Sullivan-Sanders of Atlanta; 21 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
