I do agree with Mayor Paul Winfield, to a degree, that parents are responsible for their children’s behavior in school.

But sometimes it isn’t the parents’ fault, but peer pressure. Some may not have parents or a reliable adult to lean on for guidance so there are many issues that could bring an outbreak in the school system.

The school could do more to make a safer place to be, but parents and adults need to get control of their children at home. If our mayor and city officials invest in our young people’s lives, things may be better.
