Two thieves were on the lam this morning following an attempted armed robbery at Piggly Wiggly.
When the manager of the store was unlocking the door at 6:15 a.m., he was rushed by two men wearing masks and hooded sweatshirts, police Capt. Bobby Stewart said.
One of the men had a pistol, and they forced the manager into the store office where he was able to sound the burglar alarm, Stewart said.
When the alarm went off the men fled, Stewart said.
The suspects were described only as black males, Stewart said. One was wearing a red sweatshirt and jeans, and the other had on a black sweatshirt and jeans, Stewart said.
