Ruth Behr Barnes

Ruth Behr Barnes died Saturday, March 31, 2012, at her residence in Vicksburg. She was 74.
Ruth was born July 14, 1937, to the late Iley and Anna Louise Behr. She worked as a legal secretary for the Ramsey Law Firm in Vicksburg for 30 years and later was employed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Real Estate Division, retiring in 1999.
Ruth was an active member of the DAR, the Daughters of the Confederacy and the Acacia Chapter of the Eastern Star. She was a Civil War re-enactor for several years with her husband, an avid genealogist and also enjoyed crochet and other needle arts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Iley Fant Behr Jr. and Calvin Bennet Behr; and her sister, Annie Louise Behr.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 28 years, Larry Barnes of Vicksburg; her daughter, JoLee Ming of Vicksburg; her big sister, Shirley Gettler of Mary Esther, Fla.; her grandchildren, Anna Ming, C.J. Ming and Casey Ming, all of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Billie Abraham officiating. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be C.J. Ming, Casey Ming, Steve Ming, Jimmy Keen Rick Daughtry and Dr. Michael Davis.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Brantley, Calvin Behr, Iley Behr III and Herlan Westra.
