Broken equipment shutters Riverfront slides

Two playground slides at Riverfront Park are off limits for play until replacement parts can be ordered and installed.
Caution tape has been placed around the slides to keep children off “so nobody gets hurt,” Jeff Boyett of the city’s Parks and Recreation Department said today.
The broken component on one of the slides might be the result of vandalism, he said. The other is a plastic piece that has been broken down by time and weather.
Boyett was expecting quotes for the replacement parts today or Friday, but because of the age of the equipment he was not sure they are still available. Replacement parts could cost several hundred dollars, he said, while replacing the slides could run into the thousands, he said.
