About 300 people have visited the homes opened to the public as Tapestry: The Pilgrimage to Vicksburg reached its midway point Sunday, said Carolyn Stephenson, owner of Annabelle on Speed Street and president of Vicksburg Bed and Breakfast Association, which sponsors the program.

“We’re basing that on our early figures,” she said. “We had 150 people as of last Monday.”

Tapestry began on April 1 and continues through April 30. It features 17 buildings, including 10 that survived the Siege of Vicksburg.

Despite the slow start, Stephenson expects the number of visitors this year to exceed 2011’s total of 1,300. A total of 400 people attended Tapestry in 2009, and 700 in 2010.

“That’s based on the information we’ve received from the Vicksburg Convention and Visitors Bureau, which sells tickets for us,” she said. “They said their sales are exceeding last year’s. We also have some bus tours coming, and that’s about 77 to 100 people each. Right now, we have two tours scheduled and more are on the away. We’re looking for a strong finish.”

Tickets for Tapestry are $30 for three homes or $15 for one, and visitors are allowed to select the homes they visit.

In addition to the homes, the tour includes the Old Court House Museum, Christ Episcopal Church, Linden Plantation Gardens and the Haunted Vicksburg Ghost in the Gardens Tour.
