EAST PALO ALTO, Calif. — Joe Brown Jr., a former resident of Vicksburg, died Thursday, April 12, 2012, at his home. He was 89.

He was preceded in death by his wife, O’Kellar S. Brown; his son, Ellis L. Brown; his parents, Joe Brown Sr. and Indian Collins Brown Paulding; three sisters, Agnes Brown Carter, Mary Brown Banks and Martha Brown Banks; and a brother, Arthur Brown Sr.

Survivors include three sons, Joseph E. Williams of Huntsville, Ala., the Rev. Johnny Lee Williams of Vicksburg and Rayford L. Brown of East Palo Alto; three daughters, Joanna Brown, Juanita Brown and Regina Brown, all of East Palo Alto; his brother, James Brown of Vicksburg; three sisters, Julia Brown Prentiss, Hazel Brown Erwin and Margaret Brown Neal, all of Vicksburg; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other family members including the Brown, Carter, Banks, Prentiss, Erwin, Neal, Paulding, Harvard and Young families.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Jones Mortuary in East Palo Alto with the Rev. Johnny Lee Williams officiating.
