A former candidate for Claiborne County Sheriff was being held without bail Friday night.
Willie Earl Edwards, 46, 1069 Frank and Cora Road, Hermanville, was arrested about 5 p.m. Friday and charged with credit card fraud, Claiborne County Sheriff Marvin Lucas said.
Edwards is accused of making more than $2,500 in fraudulent charges, Lucas said.
In 2010 Edwards ran for sheriff as an independent and was defeated in a landslide — 3,356 to 357 — by Lucas, a Democrat.
Edwards was being held in the Claiborne County Jail pending his initial court appearance Monday, Lucas said.
