Maxine Strong

HATTIESBURG — Maxine Strong died Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Provision Living in Hattiesburg. She was 81.

Born and reared in the Coopersville community in Scott County, she was a graduate of Morton High School and the University of Southern Mississippi, where she received a teaching degree.

She taught at Clara High School in Wayne County, Forest Hill High School in Clinton and Rebul Academy. She served as women’s chairman for 30 years for the Farm Bureau Organization and was a member of Utica Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Zackie Strong of Hattiesburg; two daughters, Cindy Strong Ayala of Brentwood, Tenn., and Lisa Strong Grantham of Hattiesburg; two sisters, Virginia Huffman and Lila Bradshaw, both of Pelahatchie; a brother, Paul Bradshaw of Knoxville, Tenn.; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Utica Baptist Church with the Rev. Rocky Henriques, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at the Carpenter Cemetery in Carpenter, Miss. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica.
