The heavens have opened and taken our sweet Janet Logan Farrell home. Janet battled cancer for the last six months and passed on May 1, 2012, in Vicksburg. She was 66.
She devoted herself to God, family and friends. She was a master at most anything she touched. A gardener and florist, she enjoyed arts and crafts, painting, fishing and breeding and training horses. She was an animal rights activist and mothered many animals back to health and shared her home with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Prather, Meadville, and Mr. Bill Logan, Greenville.
Born in Stuttgart, Germany, Janet made her home in Meadville and later in Edwards. She retired in 2010 with RSC Enterprises & Distributors. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend. Janet never met a stranger and always placed the needs of others in front of her own.
She leaves behind two sons, Harvey (Angie) of Natchez and Anthony (Sarah) of Vicksburg; three granddaughters, Amy (Brad) of Natchez, Ashley (Corey) of Vicksburg and Erin Farrell of Vicksburg; a grandson, Justin (Christie) of Madison; five great-grandchildren, Paisley, Finley, Madi, Chad and Hunter; and a brother, Harvey Jr. (Weese) of Meadville.
The family would like to extend a sincere thanks to Dr. Manu Patel and staff, Dr. Steven Zachow and staff, United Medical and Camellia Hospice.
A special thank-you to Richard Crowe, Gene and Karen Williams, Tina, Wayne Smith, Jenel Boyd, Jennifer Couch, Brother Corky and Mable Evans and those who showed kindness during her last days.
Services will be at noon Thursday, May 3, 2012, at Elmo Baptist Church, Fayette, with Minister Corky Evans officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home of Vicksburg. Visitation will be at the church Thursday from 10 a.m. until noon.
