CHICAGO — Walter Lee “Kickeye” Bruce died Monday, April 23, 2012, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Chicago. He was 70.

Mr. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lela Bruce; three sisters, Louise Bethel, Lorraine Berry and Vivian Bruce; and three brothers, Robert Lee Bruce, Sammie Lee Bruce and James Henry Bruce.

Survivors include a daughter, Latonya Jackson-Shine of Chicago; five sisters, Beatrice Porter of Pattison and Hattie Watson, Viola Hamp, Theresa Bruce and Delores Dotson, all of Chicago; four brothers, James Nicholas Bruce and Ezra Hedrick, both of Tillman, Willie Hedrick of Fayette and Lee Hedrick of Chicago; two grandchildren; and an aunt, an uncle, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including Mitchell White of Chicago.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Forrest Grove Baptist Church in Pattison with the Revs. Ray Coleman and Columbus Felton officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Port Gibson. Visitation will be at the church from noon Saturday until the service.
