A Mass of the Resurrection for Bertha Mae Singleton will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. Malcolm O’Leary officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Robbins Funeral Home in charge.
Rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Mrs. Singleton died Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at River Region Medical Center. She was 91.
She was born in Rodney, and after moving to Vicksburg, graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School.
She was employed by the Home Laundry and Cleaners and later operated, with her husband, numerous businesses including The South Side Cafe, Happy Home Cafe, The Open House Cafe, Kathy and Jil Day Nursery and El Morocco Club.
Mrs. Singleton was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Singleton; son, George Earl Chung; mother, Daisy Jackson; and step-son, William Singleton.
She is survived by her son, Willie Chong of Fayetteville, N.C.; three daughters, Nancy Pendry of Sumter, S.C., Jil Dow of Richardson, Texas, and Kathy Green, of Jackson; three step-daughters; seven grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
