In a game that stretched on well past many people’s bedtimes, Grant Dozar was Ole Miss’ worst nightmare.
LSU’s designated hitter tied the game with a home run in the top of the eighth inning, then singled in the go-ahead run in the 13th as the Tigers took the opener of a three-game series with Ole Miss, 4-3 on Friday night.
Game two of the series is today at 4 p.m. in Oxford.
Ole Miss (30-17, 10-12 SEC) had several chances to win in extra innings, but left a total of seven runners on base in the 10th, 11th and 12th. In the 12th inning, Austin Knight lined out to shortstop with the bases loaded to end the inning.
Dozar finished the game 2-for-5, and Austin Nola had three hits for LSU (37-10, 15-7).
Snyder, Tanner Mathis and Preston Overbey all had two hits apiece for Ole Miss.
